The Human Snake by Nokia

Ask anyone the most popular mobile phone game ever and they are likely to say snake. Snake, in case you’ve been living in a shell for the past several years- is a game that comes pre-installed on every Nokia phone. So, for Nokia’s latest marketing campaign to promote the N-gage games, its no surprise that they use the snake game as their inspiration. Nokia has created a short film featuring more than 1000 extras to make up the largest human snake ever. The film has been shot with no special effects whatsoever, instead it has been captured using stop motion animation. It doesn’t end there; right after the video, you get to play a human version of breakout which is quite entertaining and funny at the same time. There is also a ‘behind the scenes’ video.

Old is the (New) New

Graphic design has become a major part of our lives. Everywhere we go, we are always seeing graphics in the form advertising, packaging, and other stuff. Some are a feast to the eyes and some should have never been made. While contemporary designs are nice and all, it becomes too much and too monotonous sometimes. To break away from the normal contemporary graphic design, many artists and designers are now looking back to the good old days for inspiration. Smashing magazine has a nice feature on Vintage and Retro design from 1920-1980’s and also some current designs from designers and artists who make use of vintage and retro style in their work. Be sure to check it out.
Sneakers Vending Machine

From normal drinks and cigarettes to slightly weird eggs and lobster, the Japanese are obsessed with vending machines. Another thing they are obsessed with is sneakers, so it would only seem logical to mix the both of it and come up with a sneaker vending machine. The first ever sneakers vending machine by Japanese sports fashion brand, Onitsuka Tiger, will be placed in the UK. Its surprising thats its not in Japan. But as long as its made by a Japanese company, the Japanese can still brag about it. The machine can vend 24 pairs of sneakers at one time and all of the sneakers will be given away for free. It will stock only Mexico 66 in Red/ White/ Blue for the April launch. The Vending machine will go on a national tour throughout 2008 starting in Manchester after being stationed in London from the 14th to the 16th of April.

The Ones We Love

SHOOT YOUR LOVED ONES!!!!
Thats the idea behind The Ones We Love, a project that features the works of young and talented photographers from around the world. Each photographer contributed six images of their loved ones, taken outdoors with a natural setting. As a result some of the pictures are really raw and simple. “The goal of the website is to portray the people who are loved, cherished, and inspirational to these artists, and also showcase the differences and similarities in the photographs each of them took within the same guidelines.”
Here are some of my favorites: Nastia Sukhanova, Evgeniya Shabinina, Jackson Eaton and Indiana Caba.
