Erwin Olaf has been making a name for himself as one of the most talented and influential photographers of our time. Having worked on campaigns for companies such as Nokia, Heineken and Microsoft, he is known for his stunning images and his style of mixing photo journalism and studio photography.

He was recently commissioned by Dutch newspaper, AD to photograph the Dutch football team as Spartan warriors. The players were photographed as gladiators in a “300” inspired theme with their bodies and faces covered in mud and scars. The players photographed were Edwin van der Sar, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Nigel de Jong, John Heitinga, Rafael van der Vaart and joris mathijsen.

When asked why the players were made to look like gladiator. He responded “Football is War”, which explains why the set is entitled “New Warriors”.

Evil Celebrity Clowns

leave a comment »

The only place you get to see celebrities in their true form and uncensored is on Perez Hilton, otherwise they always seem flawless on camera thanks to a team of make up artists and stylists. But what happens when you let the public (people good at photoshop that is) play the role of celebrity make up artists? You get evil looking celebrity clowns of course. Worth 1000 recently ran a contest that asked the people to turn any famous person or celebrity into an evil clown. Some of the pictures submitted are pretty jaw dropping and disturbing at the same time.

The Ones We Love

leave a comment »

Thats the idea behind The Ones We Love, a project that features the works of young and talented photographers from around the world. Each photographer contributed six images of their loved ones, taken outdoors with a natural setting. As a result some of the pictures are really raw and simple. “The goal of the website is to portray the people who are loved, cherished, and inspirational to these artists, and also showcase the differences and similarities in the photographs each of them took within the same guidelines.”

Here are some of my favorites: Nastia Sukhanova, Evgeniya Shabinina, Jackson Eaton and Indiana Caba.
